Leitungscodierung und liefert im Gegensatz zur Frequenzmodulation kein analoges und kontinuierliches moduliertes Signal, sondern eine zeitdiskrete digitale Bitfolge. Sie wird unter anderem bei magnetischen Datenträgern wie Disketten als Kanalcode für die Datenaufzeichnung verwendet.
