The boots were invented by Montreal's Gregory Lekhtman in 1985, and offer wearers the ability to run on hard surfaces with little impact on knees and other joints. Users run in a bounding, loping, style which proponents consider a mobile alternative to other low-impact aerobic exercises, such as stair-climbing and the mini-trampoline.
