has gloss | eng: Maharaja Shurasena (also spelt sometimes as Surasena) was the ancient Yadava ruler of Mathura after whom the Surasena Kingdom or mahajanpada and the Yadava sept of Surasenas or Shoorsainis were named. According to the Mahabharata (VII.144.6030-1), he was son of Devamidha, while according to the Puranas, his father's name is Devamidhusa. He is extensively mentioned in both the Mahabharata and the Puranas as the father of Vasudeva and PÅ—tha (Kunti) and the grandfather of Krishna and the Pandava princes. Krishna was the son of Vasudeva who was the son of king Shurasena, while the Pandava princes were the sons of Kunti. |
