has gloss	eng: The creator of modern day soft body armor, Richard Davis of Detroit, Michigan (and now Central Lake, Michigan), was awarded the first patent (#3,783,449) for his invention in May 1972 . That initial anti-ballistic vest was made of ballistic nylon, a model Davis had earlier fashioned in the shop he had set up in the basement of his Detroit area home to house his Second Chance Body Armor Company in 1971.
