has glosseng: Shortfloating is an angling method developed to increase the chances of catching a willing fish while decreasing the loss of terminal gear. The method employs the use of a sliding or fixed float, some weight to keep the float upright without submerging it and a short leader normally about 12 inches in length but no more than 18 inches. The intent is of this style of rigging is to keep the offering (bait, lure) about a foot or two above the river bed.
