has gloss | eng: __NOTOC__ The Voice is a translation of the Bible produced by "The Voice Project", which is sponsored by members of the Emergent church. To date, only the New Testament has been completed; it was published in October, 2008, by Thomas Nelson. To create this new version, the Voice Project incorporated input not only from biblical and linguistic scholars, but also from musicians, pastors, and fiction writers as an alternative to scholar-focused Bible translations. The group's goal in the project was to produce a “holistic,” “beautiful,” “sensitive” and “balanced” New Testament that present-day readers could identify with. The compilation pairs a play-like format and contemporary verse with occasional commentary and italicized in-text explanations. Each book in the New Testament is preceded by a brief introduction explaining its background and significance. |
