It is dedicated to St. Mary. It's believed to be one of the oldest churches in the world, where Malankara Christians used to gather. On December 16, 2007, it was declared a global pilgrim center by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Catholicos H.H Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Didymos I.The Superior vicar of this church is Very Rev.Barsleebi Ramban.
